Tri-color horn-shaped cup resembles graceful peacock

This exquisite Tang Dynasty (618-907) tri-color horn-shaped cup looks like a graceful green peacock – the raised tip like its crown, a flower branch in its beak forming the handle. Its curved body is decorated with yellow, green and white glazes and floral scroll motifs.
This cup exemplifies the superb craftsmanship of sancai ware and even hints at Western design influences that journeyed to China during the Tang Dynasty's golden age of cultural exchanges.
Unearthed in the Houwangzhuang village in Zhengzhou, in 1976, the cup is now housed in Henan Museum.
