This stunning bronze jue goblet is a wine vessel from the Western Zhou Dynasty (c.11th century-771 BC). With its sleek, black-lacquer shine, grand and dignified form and intricate motifs, this vessel radiates noble elegance.

Evolved from an earlier design, this vessel has a lid for a more refined look. Inside the lid and on the body, 12 Chinese characters are inscribed – leading experts to believe it was used to honor an ancestor named "Yi". That's why it's called "Fu Yi Jue" (Jue Goblet of the Ancestor Yi).

Discovered by villagers in Xinyang, Henan, in 1986, this remarkable piece now resides in Henan Museum.
