The Changhen Ge Art Troupe was awarded the honorary title of "National March 8th Red Flag Collective" ahead of International Women's Day by the All-China Women's Federation.
Founded in January 2008, the Changhen Ge (The Song of Everlasting Sorrow) Art Troupe has 42 members, with women making up over 60 percent of the group. As the core performance team of China's first large-scale live action historical dance drama "The Song of Everlasting Sorrow", the troupe brings the splendor of the prosperous Tang Dynasty (618-907) to life with dedication and passion. Through their exquisite performances, they showcase the integration of culture and tourism in Shaanxi, while embodying the perseverance and innovation of women in the new era.
Over the years, the performance of "The Song of Everlasting Sorrow" has been praised as "the most beautiful dance drama in China" and "the model of culture-tourism integration", becoming a signature attraction of Shaanxi’s cultural tourism. Based on its performance services, the "Live Performance Service Standards" was established in 2016, marking China’s first national standard for site-specific theater performances.
By 2024, the production had been staged 947 times, attracting over 2.49 million viewers, setting a record high. The art troupe has performed in Hungary, Azerbaijan and other countries and regions along the Belt and Road Initiative, building a bridge of mutual learning between civilizations with Tang Dynasty music and dance.
