Some say it looks like a spacesuit, others see a bottle opener…this peculiar bronze artifact, unearthed from the Jinsha site in Chengdu, dates back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties (c.16th century-256 BC). Despite its humanoid form, it intriguingly lacks a head. The figure’s arms hang naturally, its legs slightly bent in a stance resembling a "duck-footed" walk.
Symmetrical small holes on the neck and calves suggest it might have adorned a larger ceremonial object as an ornamental pendant. The artifact, now housed at Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, was the first such discovery related to ancient Shu culture.
