China's civil aviation sector is set to kick off its 2024 Winter-Spring flight season this Sunday, running through March 29, 2025. A key highlight is the expansion of international routes at Beijing Daxing International Airport, further cementing its status as a major global hub.

Saudia Airlines will launch a new route from Beijing Daxing to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Oct 28. Singapore Airlines is set to begin daily flights between Beijing Daxing and Singapore starting Nov 11. In December, China Southern Airlines will roll out new routes to Sydney and Melbourne, while Royal Air Maroc will resume its Daxing-Casablanca route with three weekly flights in January 2025.

Daxing Airport will operate an average of 978 daily flights during the upcoming season, including 892 domestic passenger flights, 72 international and Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan flights, and 14 cargo flights.

As of Oct 20, 2024, the airport marked a significant milestone, surpassing 40 million passenger trips in a single year for the first time since its 2019 opening. The sharp increase highlights the recovery of China's civil aviation industry post-pandemic, with Daxing playing a pivotal role in its resurgence.
