Situated amid the scenic beauty of the Fanxiu Reservoir and enjoying the transportation advantages of surrounding expressway, Xishang Village in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, has emerged as a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from Hangzhou, Yongkang, Yiwu, and beyond, who come to enjoy its tranquil atmosphere and outdoor activities.
"The mountains and water here are stunning. You can fish during the day, savor farmhouse meals, and stargaze at night — it's a truly relaxing experience," said a tourist from Hangzhou. With its picturesque landscapes and ongoing efforts to develop tourism, Xishang has recently earned the designation of an "A-level Scenic Village", and the number of visitors continues to rise each year as the village capitalizes on its natural and cultural resources to foster sustainable rural development.
Central to supporting this growth is the village's power infrastructure. The 10kV Shuangfeng Line, which supplies electricity to Xishang, had become outdated and vulnerable due to its long service life and limited capacity. In response to these challenges and to mitigate risks such as electrocution from fishing, the village initiated an insulation renovation during the autumn inspection period, including replacing the aged conductors with insulated wires and upgrading components such as porcelain insulators, clamps, and crossarms, said State Grid Pan'an County Power Supply Co.
The improvements aim to not only modernize the local distribution network but also strengthen its resilience against extreme weather conditions. More importantly, the upgraded power infrastructure is poised to bolster the village's ambitions for high-quality rural tourism, laying a solid foundation for sustainable development and further enhancing the appeal of Xishang as a vibrant countryside destination, it said.
