This landscape masterpiece was created by the renowned Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) artist Fan Kuan (950-1032). The three-part silk scroll vividly captures the grandeur of the Qinling and Longshan mountains in Northwest China after a snowfall, with towering peaks, withered forests and a serene temple nestled in snowy valleys. Clouds drift through the ridges, creating an atmosphere of tranquil beauty.

This incredible piece, the only surviving Fan Kuan artwork on the Chinese mainland, is now housed in the Tianjin Museum.
