In response to the heightened demand from visitors during the summer travel season, several museums in Shanghai have decided to extend their opening hours to operate all month long until Aug 31. This move aims to accommodate the influx of tourists and locals seeking cultural experiences and historical insights during this period.
Among the museums that will remain open throughout August are the Shanghai History Museum, Shanghai Luxun Museum, China Maritime Museum, Fengxian Museum and Jiading Museum. By offering continuous access, these institutions hope to provide a more flexible and convenient experience for visitors looking to explore the city's rich cultural heritage.
To ensure a seamless experience for museumgoers, some establishments have implemented measures to avoid closures on traditional Mondays. For instance, Shanghai Museum East will be closed on Tuesdays, while the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center will observe closures on Wednesdays. Additionally, the National Anthem Gallery will not be open to the public on Sundays.
In addition to extended operating hours, a selection of prominent museums in Shanghai, including the Shanghai Museum on the People's Square, Shanghai History Museum, World Expo Museum, Shanghai Luxun Museum, the Site of the First CPC National Congress, Shanghai Natural History Museum and Shanghai Astronomy Museum, will host a series of special night events throughout August.
These night events aim to offer visitors a unique and immersive cultural experience, allowing them to engage with exhibitions and displays in a different light.
