A new species of Asteraceae, Ixeridium nujiangense, has been discovered in the Yunnan Yongde Snow Mountain National Nature Reserve. The find was made by researchers from the reserve and associate professor Wang Zehuan of Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The plant is currently found only in Yongde and Zhenkang counties, growing on the Nujiang River's exposed banks during the dry season. The discovery, published in PhytoKeys, highlights the biodiversity that exists in the surrounding area.
