Positioned at the southern end of the main peak of the Taihang Mountains in southeastern Shanxi province, the Taihang Xiyagou Tourist Resort encapsulates the essence of the 800-li (400 kilometers) Taihang Mountains. The resort area has a favorable location with convenient transportation and is a comprehensive tourism resort integrating functions such as summer vacationing, year-round health and wellness, outdoor sports, on-site experiences, themed educational trips, accommodation and dining, and meetings and team-building activities. In December 2021, it was rated as a provincial-level tourism resort; in January 2023, it was awarded the title of "first group of national summer tourism destinations" by the China Meteorological Administration.

The Taihang Xiyagou Tourist Resort boasts unique natural landscapes, a cool and refreshing climate, and a rich and illustrious cultural heritage. The area is rich in tourism resources, with eight main categories, 16 subcategories, and 33 basic types, totaling 58 representative resource units. These include natural resources such as the Taihang Mountains and Chiyan Canyon, cultural resources epitomized by the spirit of the Xiyagou Cliffside Road, medicinal resources represented by authentic medicinal herbs like forsythia and codonopsis, and nutritional resources featuring local cuisine from Jincheng.

It has developed themed product systems "four beauties of Taihang Mountains" and "five canyon wellnesses," as well as six specialized products including accommodation, dining, shopping, and festivals.
