Changhai county is nestled in Dalian city, Liaoning province. The county encompasses 195 islands, with a total land area of 142 square kilometers and a total sea area of 10,324 square kilometers. With a coastline extending over 359 km, it is a hub of fisheries in China. Positioned at 39 degrees north latitude, the Changshan Islands basks in an average annual temperature of approximately 10 C, boasting lush vegetation and pure, moist air that has earned it the fame of a "natural oxygen bar".

At present, the Changshan Islands Tourist Resort, accommodating 82 hotels and 88 guesthouses, creates an immersive leisure vacation service scene for visitors. It has successively established scenic spots that highlight the island's natural landscape, such as Xiaoshuikou Forest Park, Guanglu Laotieshan Forest Park, Zhangzi Island Twenty-Four Solar Terms Park, and Dading Mountain Coastal Defense Park. These developments showcase the island's ecological tourism with bird watching and dolphin spotting, and leisure vacation tourism with beach clubs, a red tourism education base, and a sports park.

In 2022, the Changshan Islands Tourist Resort was recognized as a group of key tourism functional zones in the province. In 2023, it received national honors such as a "harmonious and beautiful island area", creating the unique tourism image of "the islands in southern Liaoning province, beautiful Changshan".
