75 kg bronze container a wedding gift from over 2,000 years ago

This bronze yu (container) is an exquisite example of craftsmanship from the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC). It's adorned with two parallel bow-string patterns and four handles each sculpted in the shape of a kui dragon with a raised head, an open mouth and a pair of bulging eyes.

Inside the vessel, a 26-Chinese-character inscription reveals it was a luxurious dowry from the Marquis of the Qi State to his beloved daughter. It not only symbolizes the Marquis' deep affection and concern for his daughter but also proves the historical alliance between the Qi State and the Zhou royal family over 2,000 years ago.
