China is now the world's largest filer of intellectual property in all types of IP, from patents to trademarks to designs. Even in the area of geographical indications, China is the top filer in the world, said Daren Tang, director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization.
In the past 50 years, China has really shown tremendous growth and maturity in its IP ecosystem, from a very basic to now a very mature ecosystem, Tang said during a recent interview with China Daily website.
He attributed the achievements of China's IP development to successive Chinese administrations placing significant importance on intellectual property, rather than the result of coincidence or chance.
