In order to meet the local residents' surging demand for electric vehicles, a large number of new public charging piles are expected to be built this year in Xuchang, Central China's Henan province.

Xuchang plans to build another 105 public charging stations equipped with 4,790 piles this year, significantly contributing to the construction of a complete charging infrastructure system, the local government said. In addition, 17 charging stations for buses and four charging stations for sanitation vehicles will be newly built in the city as well.

Based on the development status of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure in Xuchang, the government said it will ensure a reasonable and scientific allocation of the new charging stations and build them in a timely and orderly manner.

"Both the client-side transformers and power cables have passed our acceptance tests. The charging station is now ready to be powered up," Ai menglong, an employee from the local power supplier, said when inspecting a new charging pile in the west parking lot of Xuchang Museum.

Ai said the State Grid Xuchang Power Supply Co is in cooperation with the local government to calculate the electrical load of the charging stations in advance and carry out grid planning and construction accordingly. The company also actively collects customer requirements and simplifies the process of service application, thus ensuring a timely delivery of relevant projects.
