Xiaomi refutes rumors of free of car plate lottery

Xiaomi Corp on Friday denied media reports that it was considering giving Beijing vehicle license plates to buyers as a method to sell its upcoming cars.
A Xiaomi spokesman said in a statement that such reports are entirely false. Xiaomi clarified that pricing, delivery, and sales policies for Xiaomi cars are subject to official announcements.
A source at the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau said "Consumers need to participate in a lottery for vehicle license plates, and I haven't received any notification that purchasing a Xiaomi car comes with a free license plate at the moment."
