Chinese automaker forges ahead in Indonesia's EV sector

Despite automaker SGMW's popularity in China for affordability and quality, the company had a hard time winning over Indonesia.

Wang Wanfu, director of procurement and supply chain at SGMW Motor Indonesia, witnessed how the company built its stronghold in the Southeast Asian country.

"For enterprises looking to develop here in the long term, actively seeking local resources is essential to get things done," Wang said.

Now an active player in Indonesia's electric vehicle (EV) market, SGMW Motor Indonesia took part in creating EV industry standards Indonesia.
