China's tourism industry is embracing good recovery this year and industry insiders have confidence for tourism development in near future, said experts.

A recent report by the China Tourism Academy estimates that domestic tourism visits will reach over 5.4 billion this year, with the number roughly reaching 90 percent of that in 2019 — before COVID-19 hit.

The report said that tourism-related revenue this year will increase to 5.2 trillion yuan ($724 billion), about 91 percent of that in 2019.

Dai Bin, president of the academy, said at a recent forum in Shanghai, that China's tourism economy will embrace a greater prosperity in the future after experiencing a three-year slump due to the epidemic and a yearlong quick recovery in 2022.

He said that the official department will not continue to compare the main tourism index with that in 2019 from next year. While the COVID-19 epidemic didn't stop people's desire for better tourism and traveling experiences in past three years, nothing will stop that in the future.
