Tianjin Symphony gives two concerts

The Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dong Junjie, gave a concert in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, on Oct 22, featuring music that told stories about the city, which has undergone rapid growth and drastic change since reform and opening-up began in 1978.

Performers including soprano Wei Jiani, and folk singer Jiang Yuxin, took part, singing songs such as The Story of Spring and Dream.

The Tianjin Symphony Orchestra also performed Ode to the Red Flag by composer Lyu Qiming.

On Oct 25, the orchestra performed in Hong Kong with pianist Sinyu Kwok, under the baton of Hong Kong conductor Tin Fu Yau.

The concert included pieces such as Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No 1 in B-flat Minor Op 23, and The Yellow River Piano Concerto.
