New plant species found in Dehong

Good news! The Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with the Provincial Natural Reserve Management Bureau of Tongbiguan, Yunnan province, recently discovered a new plant species in the Ericaceae family – Agapetes lihengiana Bin Yang & Y.H. Tan.

This remarkable find is dedicated to the renowned professor Li Heng from CAS’s Kunming Institute of Botany in recognition of his immense contributions to the study of flora in the Gaoligong Mountains.
