Frenchman Gerard Benoit has won a tightrope walking competition in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in Hunan province.

Twelve contestants from home and abroad participated in the competition on Monday and Tuesday. They had to walk the 120 meters on a 2.5-centimeter rope between two hills 1,092 meters above sea level.

The contestants, divided into six pairs, were judged based on the time to finish and the number of missteps resulting in a fall.

The final competition was between Benoit and Chinese contestant Hu Jien. Benoit finished the competition faster and did not fall; Hu was slower and fell once. Chinese contestant Wu Guangcheng won third place.

Since 2018, the competition has been held multiple times. It attracts extreme sports enthusiasts from around the world.
