Craftsman village offers tourists hands-on experience in Dunhuang

The ongoing summer holiday sees study tour groups throughout Dunhuang in Northwest China's Gansu province to appreciate its world-renowned Mogao Grottoes and learn about its significance on the ancient Silk Road.

Mogaoli Craftsman Village in Dunhuang has become a new attraction among these tourist groups. The village, covering an area of two hectares, is by far the city's largest base for traditional Dunhuang crafts education.

"What we do is provide a place for tourists and locals to learn and experience Dunhuang art and culture and bring the associated intangible cultural heritage to modern people's lives," said You Luping, an inheritor of Dunhuang painted clay sculpture.
