From 398 to 494, the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534) established its capital in Pingcheng (present Datong city) and promoted cultural exchanges and development, providing the foundation for the formation of Yungang Grottoes art.

On July 1, the Museum of Wu in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, will unveil an exhibit revisiting how the Yungang Grottoes emerged and developed. Carved stone statues of Buddha and Bodhisattva beautifully present the splendid culture and art of Yungang. Don’t miss out. The exhibit will run through Oct 8.
