A gala, featuring artists from the Chinese mainland and Macao Special Administrative Region, was staged at the Macao Cultural Centre on June 20, kicking off the annual event, titled Spring of Haojiang River, which runs until Friday.

Co-organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the gala featured award-winning dance and music by artists from the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. A children's choir from Macao performed Songs of Seven Sons, which brought to an end to the gala.

Starting from June 20, exhibitions of calligraphy and carving are being held in Macao till Friday.

On Wednesday, works of ceramic arts and rattan weaving — both traditional Chinese crafts — were displayed in Macao. Sixty ceramic art works by artists from Foshan, Guangdong province, and 66 rattan weaving art pieces by craftsmen of Anxi county, Fujian province, were displayed.

The series event also had activities for young students from the Chinese mainland and Macao.

Since 2011, the event, Spring of Haojiang River, has been held 12 times, aiming at promoting cultural exchange between people from the Chinese mainland and Macao.
