Since 2022, archaeological excavations have been launched at the Xingong site in Fengtai district of Beijing. Major finds reveal that the site is home to more than 300 ruins from different time periods.
Ruins dating from the late Xia Dynasty (c.21st century-16th century BC) to early Shang Dynasty (c.16th century-11th century BC) make up the largest number, and belong to the Datuotou Culture. Dual ring trenches at that time have been discovered in Beijing for the first time, providing solid clues for research on Beijing’s history.
