This shallow-bellied, long stemmed food serving vessel, known as the Diaosheng dou, is a typical example of its kind during the mid Western Zhou Dynasty (c.11th century-771 BC). Swirling patterns in relief adorn the bowl’s outer wall. The stem features scale patterns and a waistband. The ten-character inscription on the bottom of the bowl indicates its name dou.

Excavated from a Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC) tomb in Xigaoquan village, Baoji county, Shaanxi province, in 1978, the vessel is in the collection of the Shaanxi History Museum.
