Guizhou's ideal places to visit in May

With promising gentle sunshine and pleasant temperatures, May is the perfect time to travel in Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Yangchang Huahua Town in Guiyang will host an international music and fireworks festival from May 19 to 20, providing the ultimate romantic ambiance. The elaborate fireworks will further light up the starry sky, creating breathtaking scenes.

Jiangcun Chrysanthemum Garden in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture is known for offerings views of seemingly endless chrysanthemums. It has prepared a creative display this year, featuring colorful cosmos flowers which symbolize "prosperity and fortune".

Zhijin Ancient City in Bijie was declared a provincial-level historic and cultural city in 1991. Nested among picturesque mountains and flowing waters, it boasts over 70 ancient buildings, including Caishen Temple, Dongshan Temple, Wenchang Pavilion, and Longxing Temple, among other scenic wonders.

In Anshun, Jiuzhou Ancient Town retains the historical structure of its ancient streets and alleys. Over 20 of these crisscross the town, lined with traditional residential buildings such as Wanshou Palace, Qingyuan Palace, and Chenghuang Temple. Today, it is a national historic and cultural town and a national 4A-level eco-cultural tourist attraction.

Tuole village, located in Liupanshui city, is home to more than 1,000 ancient ginkgo trees, forming the largest and oldest ginkgo forest in the world. In 2021, Tuole village was selected as one of the third batch of key villages for rural tourism in Guizhou.
