Over 600 enthusiasts kick off kite festival in Shandong

The 40th Weifang International Kite Festival opened on Saturday in Weifang, Shandong province, attracting 622 kite enthusiasts from 59 countries and regions.

Apart from kite flying, the festival includes cultural performances, exhibitions, lantern fairs, concerts and food stalls serving local delicacies, providing a platform for opening-up and exchanges, as well as creating an international gala featuring traditional cultures and Chinese characteristics.

This year's festival will last until May 21.
