From small family graveyards to large public cemeteries, a total of 2,192 tombs spanning from the Western Jin Dynasty (265-316) to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) were excavated at the Dasongshan site in Gui’an New Area, Guizhou province, in 2022. More than 4,000 cultural relics, including items made of gold, silver and copper, ceramics, lacquer ware, glass and jade were unearthed. The finds provide clues for the gradual rise of Guiyang as a center of economic and social activities in Guizhou, and unroll a panorama of various ethnic groups’ daily lives in Southwest China.
