This blue-and-white incense burner, dating back to the Kangxi reign (1662-1722) of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), has a short neck and a trumpeting mouth rim. Its bulging belly is decorated with a noble scholar sitting at the foot of a mountain.

At ease, the scholar seems deep in thought. Beside him on a low table, incense is rising from a burner. The smoke is seen wafting from the incense burner and disappearing into the air. The entire picture creates a soothing ambience.

It is a treasure from the permanent collection of the Shandong Museum.
