Born in Chongqing in 1979, Chen Sa won 4th place in the 14th Chopin International Piano Competition in 2000 and the Crystal Award at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005. In 2010, Chen was awarded the "Chopin Art Passport" by the Polish government. She obtained her doctorate degree from Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media in 2017 in Germany.
In 2021, Chen served as a judge at the 18th Chopin International Piano Competition held in Warsaw, Poland. On the same year, she released a solo album The Complete Works of Chopin's Nocturnes.
