The dance drama Eastern Immortal Prophecy was staged at the 2023 China Central Television Spring Festival Gala on Jan 21. Centering on the precious brocade armband unearthed in Xinjiang, the excerpt’s production depicted an epic friendship and unity among ethnic groups more than 2,000 years ago.
The armband was excavated at the Niya ruins in Hotan and originated in the Eastern Han (25-220 AD) to Western Jin (265-316 AD). It was embroidered with the words “Five stars rise in the east, indicating victory for China”.
