Dec 15: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 2,000 new cases of confirmed infections (56 imported cases, 17 in Guangdong province, 15 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Sichuan province, 5 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Jiangxi province; 1,944 indigenous cases, 857 in Guangdong province, 494 in Beijing municipality, 143 in Chongqing municipality, 67 in Henan province, 67 in Sichuan province, 61 in Zhejiang province, 61 in Fujian province, 23 in Hainan province, 22 in Shanghai municipality, 21 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 20 in Liaoning province, 20 in Yunnan province, 17 in Shandong province, 16 in Tianjin municipality, 15 in Heilongjiang province, 12 in Hebei province, 10 in Jiangsu province, 8 in Shaanxi province, 4 in Anhui province, 3 in Shanxi province, 2 in Guizhou province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region), no deaths, and 4 new cases of suspected infections (all were indigenous cases, 3 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Chongqing municipality).

On Dec 14, 2,565 patients were released from hospital after being cured (88 imported cases; 2,477 indigenous cases, 1,228 in Guangdong province, 213 in Beijing municipality, 191 in Fujian province, 109 in Shandong province, 99 in Henan province, 87 in Shanxi province, 84 in Sichuan province, 74 in Heilongjiang province, 63 in Yunnan province, 54 in Guizhou province, 51 in Chongqing municipality, 44 in Zhejiang province, 41 in Jiangsu province, 39 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 28 in Liaoning province, 25 in Shaanxi province, 20 in Shanghai municipality, 8 in Hunan province, 7 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 6 in Hebei province, 3 in Anhui province, 2 in Hubei province and 1 in Gansu province). 127,440 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 17.

As of 24:00 on Dec 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 28,373 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 27,961 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 412 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 14, the National Health Commission had received reports of 371,918 confirmed cases and 5,235 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 331,974 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 34,700 confirmed cases (including 167 cases in serious condition) and 17 suspected cases. 15,160,319 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 519,749 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on Dec 14, 8,996,858 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 479,771 in Hong Kong (11,056 had died and 104,126 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 1,254 in Macao (7 had died and 854 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 8,515,833 in Taiwan (14,759 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
