On Dec 5, 3,198 patients were released from hospital after being cured (84 imported cases; 3,114 indigenous cases, 1,158 in Guangdong province, 476 in Beijing municipality, 326 in Chongqing municipality, 274 in Henan province, 237 in Shanxi province, 102 in Sichuan province, 77 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 70 in Heilongjiang province, 70 in Shandong province, 46 in Yunnan province, 37 in Zhejiang province, 28 in Fujian province, 26 in Hebei province, 26 in Liaoning province, 25 in Shaanxi province, 22 in Jiangsu province, 19 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 18 in Hunan province, 13 in Jilin province, 10 in Hainan province, 9 in Guizhou province, 9 in Qinghai province, 8 in Anhui province, 8 in Tibet autonomous region, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Hubei province, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region and 1 in Jiangxi province). 295,532 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. As of 24:00 on Dec 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 27,890 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 27,291 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 599 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 5, the National Health Commission had received reports of 345,529 confirmed cases and 5,235 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 297,813 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 42,481 confirmed cases (including 128 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 14,268,918 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 1,908,640 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on Dec 5, 8,845,392 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 465,099 in Hong Kong (10,826 had died and 100,599 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 826 in Macao (6 had died and 791 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 8,379,467 in Taiwan (14,500 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
