Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) witnessed the thriving of Chinese opera and ceramics. One example that illustrates this history is the blue-and-white prunus vase (meiping) depicting Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24) politician Xiao He chasing Han Xin at night.

The Yuan Dynasty vase is also decorated with lotus and floral patterns, all of which are appropriately designed and presented in brilliant blue hues.

Excavated from the tomb of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) Prince of Qianning Mu Ying in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, the vase is a treasure in the permanent collection of the Nanjing Municipal Museum.
