On Oct 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 221 new cases of confirmed infections (48 imported cases, 19 in Guangdong province, 11 in Fujian province, 6 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 7 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 5 in Guangdong province, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Zhejiang province; 173 indigenous cases, 36 in Shanxi province, 32 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 23 in Guangdong province, 22 in Shaanxi province, 10 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 8 in Beijing municipality, 8 in Henan province, 7 in Hunan province, 6 in Anhui province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Shanghai municipaliaty, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Guizhou province and 1 in Tibet autonomous region, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Shaanxi province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Oct 23, 311 patients were released from hospital after being cured (72 imported cases; 239 indigenous cases, 49 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 41 in Shanxi province, 36 in Guangdong province, 32 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 27 in Sichuan province, 9 in Liaoning province, 8 in Heilongjiang province, 5 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Guizhou province, 5 in Shaanxi province, 4 in Henan province, 4 in Chongqing municipality, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Fujian province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Hainan province). 47,901 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Oct 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 25,429 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 24,824 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 605 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 257,583 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 248,573 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,784 confirmed cases (including 15 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 7,237,644 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 467,332 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 23, 935 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (90 imported cases; 845 indigenous cases, 272 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 156 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 37 in Shanghai municipality, 32 in Jiangsu province, 30 in Hubei province, 28 in Sichuan province, 26 in Yunnan province, 26 in Shaanxi province, 24 in Hebei province, 24 in Shanxi province, 21 in Guizhou province, 20 in Anhui province, 20 in Guangdong province, 20 in Tibet autonomous region, 17 in Shandong province, 17 in Gansu province, 12 in Heilongjiang province, 10 in Tianjin municipality, 10 in Henan province, 9 in Jilin province, 9 in Hunan province, 6 in Zhejiang province, 6 in Chongqing municipality, 5 in Liaoning province, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region and 1 in Hainan province). 12 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 7 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 23, 15,137 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 1,043 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 23, 7,880,203 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 429,252 in Hong Kong (10,326 had died and 89,766 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 7,450,158 in Taiwan (12,323 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
