Oct 21: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 214 new cases of confirmed infections (56 imported cases, 25 in Guangdong province, 12 in Fujian province, 7 in Sichuan province, 4 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Yunnan province and 1 in Zhejiang province, including 9 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Zhejiang province; 158 indigenous cases, 29 in Shaanxi province, 27 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 27 in Guangdong province, 15 in Beijing municipality, 9 in Henan province, 8 in Shanxi province, 7 in Hunan province, 7 in Sichuan province, 7 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 6 in Tianjin municipality, 5 in Zhejiang province, 4 in Chongqing municipality, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 13 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Sichuan province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Oct 20, 279 patients were released from hospital after being cured (55 imported cases; 224 indigenous cases, 39 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 36 in Sichuan province, 32 in Guangdong province, 24 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 18 in Yunnan province, 15 in Shanxi province, 12 in Liaoning province, 10 in Chongqing municipality, 6 in Jiangsu province, 5 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Guizhou province, 4 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Henan province, 3 in Hunan province, 3 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 2 in Anhui province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Hubei province). 65,170 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained the same.

As of 24:00 on Oct 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 25,273 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 24,649 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 624 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 20, the National Health Commission had received reports of 256,940 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 247,561 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 4,153 confirmed cases (including 13 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 7,063,681 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 469,991 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 783 new asymptomatic cases (145 imported cases; 638 indigenous cases, 113 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 64 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 62 in Guangdong province, 53 in Tianjin municipality, 41 in Shaanxi province, 40 in Hubei province, 37 in Yunnan province, 32 in Hunan province, 24 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 19 in Zhejiang province, 17 in Shandong province, 17 in Sichuan province, 16 in Gansu province, 14 in Jiangsu province, 13 in Shanghai municipality, 12 in Henan province, 11 in Hebei province, 9 in Shanxi province, 9 in Anhui province, 6 in Heilongjiang province, 6 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 5 in Chongqing municipality, 5 in Guizhou province, 4 in Tibet autonomous region, 4 in Qinghai province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Fujian province).

On Oct 20, 840 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (99 imported cases; 741 indigenous cases, 210 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 77 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 61 in Hubei province, 57 in Yunnan province, 35 in Shanxi province, 31 in Guizhou province, 28 in Jiangsu province, 27 in Shanghai municipality, 26 in Gansu province, 21 in Anhui province, 21 in Shaanxi province, 19 in Henan province, 15 in Heilongjiang province, 15 in Tibet autonomous region, 13 in Sichuan province, 11 in Tianjin municipality, 11 in Guangdong province, 9 in Liaoning province, 9 in Shandong province, 9 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 8 in Hebei province, 7 in Zhejiang province, 7 in Chongqing municipality, 5 in Jilin province, 5 in Hunan province, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Jiangxi province). 22 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 9 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 20, 15,686 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 1,028 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 20, 7,769,838 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 427,079 in Hong Kong (10,306 had died and 89,104 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 7,341,966 in Taiwan (12,128 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
