On Oct 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 250 new cases of confirmed infections (42 imported cases, 13 in Fujian province, 11 in Guangdong province, 4 in Sichuan province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Chongqing municipality, including 7 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Guangdong province; 208 indigenous cases, 46 in Shanxi province, 36 in Guangdong province, 17 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 16 in Hunan province, 14 in Beijing municipality, 11 in Jiangsu province, 9 in Shaanxi province, 8 in Zhejiang province, 8 in Sichuan province, 8 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 6 in Henan province, 6 in Yunnan province, 5 in Hubei province, 4 in Heilongjiang province, 3 in Liaoning province, 3 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Tibet autonomous region, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Shandong province, including 20 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 5 in Shanxi province, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Sichuan province and 1 in Zhejiang province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Oct 17, 300 patients were released from hospital after being cured (61 imported cases; 239 indigenous cases, 46 in Guangdong province, 42 in Sichuan province, 36 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 26 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 12 in Yunnan province, 11 in Shanxi province, 10 in Guizhou province, 8 in Shaanxi province, 7 in Tianjin municipality, 7 in Liaoning province, 6 in Hainan province, 6 in Chongqing municipality, 4 in Shandong province, 4 in Hunan province, 4 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 3 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Henan province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region). 51,082 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Oct 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 25,127 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 24,491 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 636 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 17, the National Health Commission had received reports of 256,268 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 246,629 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 4,413 confirmed cases (including 15 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 6,872,015 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 463,959 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 701 new asymptomatic cases (114 imported cases; 587 indigenous cases, 133 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 61 in Guangdong province, 43 in Hunan province, 38 in Sichuan province, 33 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 32 in Hubei province, 31 in Shanxi province, 27 in Zhejiang province, 27 in Yunnan province, 27 in Shaanxi province, 19 in Jiangsu province, 14 in Shanghai municipality, 13 in Hebei province, 11 in Gansu province, 9 in Shandong province, 9 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 8 in Tianjin municipality, 8 in Chongqing municipality, 7 in Henan province, 6 in Anhui province, 6 in Guizhou province, 6 in Tibet autonomous region, 5 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 4 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Heilongjiang province, 3 in Liaoning province and 3 in Jilin province).

On Oct 17, 612 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (116 imported cases; 496 indigenous cases, 54 in Tianjin municipality, 54 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 51 in Sichuan province, 44 in Guizhou province, 29 in Yunnan province, 24 in Shaanxi province, 20 in Hubei province, 20 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 19 in Guangdong province, 18 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 18 in Anhui province, 17 in Tibet autonomous region, 16 in Hebei province, 15 in Zhejiang province, 15 in Gansu province, 12 in Heilongjiang province, 12 in Shanghai municipality, 8 in Shanxi province, 8 in Jiangsu province, 8 in Henan province, 8 in Chongqing municipality, 6 in Shandong province, 6 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Liaoning province, 4 in Jilin province, 4 in Hunan province and 1 in Qinghai province). 27 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 7 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 17, 15,683 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 933 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 17, 7,638,791 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 425,260 in Hong Kong (10,278 had died and 88,419 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 7,212,738 in Taiwan (11,961 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
