On Oct 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 245 new cases of confirmed infections (63 imported cases, 18 in Guangdong province, 8 in Fujian province, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Jiangsu province, 6 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Sichuan province, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Shandong province, 3 in Yunnan province, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 6 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Sichuan province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Guangdong province; 182 indigenous cases, 40 in Shanxi province, 23 in Guangdong province, 20 in Zhejiang province, 13 in Beijing municipality, 13 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 13 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 9 in Jiangsu province, 9 in Shaanxi province, 8 in Henan province, 7 in Heilongjiang province, 6 in Sichuan province, 6 in Yunnan province, 5 in Chongqing municipality, 4 in Hunan province, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Tibet autonomous region, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Guizhou province, including 19 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Shanxi province, 3 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Henan province, 2 in Sichuan province, 2 in Yunnan province and 1 in Chongqing municipality), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Oct 16, 286 patients were released from hospital after being cured (58 imported cases; 228 indigenous cases, 50 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 38 in Sichuan province, 27 in Guangdong province, 27 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 18 in Yunnan province, 17 in Guizhou province, 11 in Chongqing municipality, 7 in Shanxi province, 6 in Shaanxi province, 5 in Hunan province, 4 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Henan province, 2 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Tibet autonomous region, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Shandong province). 40,755 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Oct 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 25,085 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 24,430 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 655 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 16, the National Health Commission had received reports of 256,018 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 246,329 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 4,463 confirmed cases (including 16 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 6,800,694 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 444,762 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 676 new asymptomatic cases (142 imported cases; 534 indigenous cases, 175 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 38 in Guangdong province, 32 in Shanghai municipality, 31 in Yunnan province, 30 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 30 in Sichuan province, 23 in Hubei province, 23 in Shaanxi province, 20 in Jiangsu province, 19 in Shanxi province, 16 in Tianjin municipality, 12 in Hebei province, 12 in Hunan province, 10 in Chongqing municipality, 9 in Anhui province, 8 in Shandong province, 8 in Henan province, 7 in Guizhou province, 7 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 6 in Liaoning province, 6 in Tibet autonomous region, 4 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Gansu province, 1 in Jilin province and 1 in Heilongjiang province).

On Oct 16, 581 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (139 imported cases; 442 indigenous cases, 70 in Guizhou province, 65 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 53 in Yunnan province, 24 in Heilongjiang province, 22 in Hubei province, 20 in Guangdong province, 20 in Gansu province, 19 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 18 in Tianjin municipality, 18 in Sichuan province, 16 in Anhui province, 15 in Shanghai municipality, 12 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 10 in Liaoning province, 9 in Shanxi province, 9 in Shaanxi province, 7 in Jiangsu province, 6 in Hebei province, 6 in Henan province, 5 in Shandong province, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 3 in Tibet autonomous region, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Hunan province). 25 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 6 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 16, 15,621 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 942 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 16, 7,609,251 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 424,546 in Hong Kong (10,273 had died and 88,253 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 7,183,912 in Taiwan (11,908 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
