Oct 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 244 new cases of confirmed infections (70 imported cases, 22 in Fujian province, 18 in Guangdong province, 11 in Beijing municipality, 8 in Sichuan province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Yunnan province, including 6 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Sichuan province; 174 indigenous cases, 35 in Guangdong province, 25 in Shanxi province, 22 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 17 in Beijing municipality, 13 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 12 in Zhejiang province, 11 in Shaanxi province, 8 in Sichuan province, 7 in Henan province, 6 in Heilongjiang province, 5 in Jiangsu province, 5 in Yunnan province, 4 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Tibet autonomous region, including 15 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 7 in Sichuan province, 5 in Guangdong province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Yunnan province), no deaths, and 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai municipality).

On Oct 15, 303 patients were released from hospital after being cured (77 imported cases; 226 indigenous cases, 64 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 39 in Sichuan province, 22 in Guangdong province, 19 in Guizhou province, 17 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 12 in Jiangsu province, 9 in Yunnan province, 7 in Tianjin municipality, 6 in Heilongjiang province, 5 in Hunan province, 5 in Shaanxi province, 4 in Shanxi province, 3 in Liaoning province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Henan province, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Tibet autonomous region). 56,830 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Oct 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 25,022 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 24,372 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 650 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Oct 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 255,773 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 246,043 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 4,504 confirmed cases (including 17 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 6,741,470 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 427,080 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 782 new asymptomatic cases (114 imported cases; 668 indigenous cases, 271 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 43 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 39 in Sichuan province, 29 in Hubei province, 29 in Guangdong province, 28 in Shanghai municipality, 27 in Yunnan province, 26 in Shaanxi province, 22 in Jiangsu province, 19 in Shanxi province, 19 in Anhui province, 17 in Henan province, 9 in Tianjin municipality, 9 in Liaoning province, 9 in Jilin province, 9 in Hunan province, 9 in Guizhou province, 9 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 8 in Chongqing municipality, 6 in Shandong province, 6 in Tibet autonomous region, 5 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Gansu province, 4 in Heilongjiang province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Hebei province, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Hainan province).

On Oct 15, 587 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (98 imported cases; 489 indigenous cases, 77 in Guizhou province, 46 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 43 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 39 in Tianjin municipality, 35 in Heilongjiang province, 35 in Shaanxi province, 31 in Sichuan province, 29 in Yunnan province, 20 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 18 in Guangdong province, 13 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 12 in Tibet autonomous region, 11 in Hebei province, 10 in Shanghai municipality, 9 in Shandong province, 9 in Hubei province, 9 in Chongqing municipality, 8 in Liaoning province, 7 in Jiangsu province, 7 in Anhui province, 7 in Gansu province, 4 in Henan province, 2 in Shanxi province, 2 in Hunan province, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Jilin province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Jiangxi province). 21 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 6 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 15, 15,551 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 945 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 15, 7,566,966 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 423,755 in Hong Kong (10,268 had died and 88,052 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 7,142,418 in Taiwan (11,843 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
