Oct 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 240 new cases of confirmed infections (51 imported cases, 11 in Guangdong province, 9 in Fujian province, 9 in Sichuan province, 7 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Zhejiang province, including 10 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 7 in Sichuan province and 3 in Jiangsu province; 189 indigenous cases, 80 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 45 in Sichuan province, 19 in Guangdong province, 8 in Hunan province, 6 in Yunnan province, 6 in Tibet autonomous region, 4 in Fujian province, 4 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 3 in Shanxi province, 3 in Guizhou province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 13 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 7 in Sichuan province, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Shanxi province and 1 in Yunnan province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Oct 2, 256 patients were released from hospital after being cured (59 imported cases; 197 indigenous cases, 78 in Tibet autonomous region, 58 in Guizhou province, 22 in Sichuan province, 17 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 8 in Guangdong province, 6 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Shandong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Yunnan province and 1 in Gansu province). 16,605 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Oct 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 24,259 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 23,636 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 623 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 251,040 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 242,885 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,929 confirmed cases (including 23 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 6,078,966 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 177,952 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 570 new asymptomatic cases (104 imported cases; 466 indigenous cases, 127 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 43 in Tibet autonomous region, 40 in Sichuan province, 33 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 29 in Guizhou province, 28 in Yunnan province, 24 in Guangdong province, 23 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 20 in Tianjin municipality, 14 in Henan province, 13 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 11 in Shaanxi province, 10 in Shandong province, 9 in Shanxi province, 9 in Heilongjiang province, 7 in Zhejiang province, 4 in Anhui province, 4 in Hubei province, 4 in Hunan province, 4 in Gansu province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Hebei province).

On Oct 2, 1,345 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (88 imported cases; 1,257 indigenous cases, 555 in Tibet autonomous region, 226 in Guizhou province, 222 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 83 in Heilongjiang province, 29 in Shandong province, 28 in Sichuan province, 22 in Hubei province, 20 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 16 in Tianjin municipality, 16 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 5 in Henan province, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Hebei province, 4 in Jiangsu province, 4 in Yunnan province, 4 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Hainan province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Gansu province, 2 in Qinghai province, 1 in Jilin province, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Fujian province). 23 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 10 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 2, 9,565 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 751 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 2, 6,964,074 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 415,573 in Hong Kong (10,173 had died and 85,350 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 6,547,708 in Taiwan (11,163 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
