The Longji Ancient Zhuang Village Complex, located in Heping township, Longsheng Various Ethnicities autonomous county, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, is home to four villages and features the best-preserved, oldest, and largest Zhuang stilt-style wooden architectural structures. Five of the wooden houses date back more than a century, with the oldest dating back 250 years.
The Longji Ancient Village Complex was named after a nearby mountain ridge that resembles the backbone of a dragon swooping down to the river. The best time to visit the village is in the autumn. During harvest season, all terraced fields are dressed in gold, creating a “golden sea” amidst the peaks. These rolling rice plants appear to be golden waves when the breeze is gentle. Terrace fields complement the forests, streams, and villages, showcasing the harmony between mankind and nature.
