Shilin village, Zhejiang province

Situated in Dalan town, Yuyao, Zhejiang province, Shilin (persimmon grove) village is an ancient settlement surrounded by mountains. It is endowed with sufficient sunlight, plentiful rainfall, stunning scenery, and a wealth of tourism resources, making it a popular film location.

Shilin village is well-known for its persimmon cultivation, which has lasted for over 400 years. Every autumn, the persimmon fruits turn from green to red like red lanterns hanging from the trees. Fields of persimmon trees in the village make up a spectacular vista. With a plantation area of about 134 hectares, the village yields an annual output of more than 100,000 kilograms. The red persimmon is not only an agricultural product but also symbolizes affluence and is believed to bring good luck. It has become an icon of the village.
