Kunming kids win gold at 2022 World Choir Festival

At the 2022 World Choir Festival (held online), the choir of Xiuhe Primary School at Luquan county in Kunming won a gold medal in the "6-16 years old Children's Chorus".

This year’s event saw near 200 attendants from 27 countries and regions who competed in two phases. The first phase was the competition category that was judged by a panel of 12 international jury members from nine countries. The second phase was an online choir festival where a panel of over 70 international jury members voted for prizes and awards.

The event was launch by the World Youth and Children Choral Artists’ Association (WYCCAA) as part of the celebration of its 25th anniversary.

The choir sung the song Volunteer Teachers in the Countryside. With their tender voices, they integrated the elements of modern singing with the a patriotic theme.

Xiuhe Primary School Choir has been instructed by national first-class composers and lyricists since its establishment.
