Aug 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 101 new cases of confirmed infections (63 imported cases, 19 in Guangdong province, 10 in Fujian province, 6 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Jilin province, 4 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Sichuan province, 4 in Yunnan province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Chongqing municipality, including 13 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 5 in Fujian province, 3 in Jilin province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Sichuan province; 38 indigenous cases, 12 in Hainan province, 10 in Gansu province, 8 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Shandong province and 1 in Sichuan province, including 12 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 10 in Gansu province and 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Aug 2, 128 patients were released from hospital after being cured (34 imported cases; 94 indigenous cases, 40 in Gansu province, 27 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 15 in Guangdong province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Anhui province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Hainan province). 10,589 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Aug 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 20,850 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 20,280 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 570 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 229,802 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 223,009 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,567 confirmed cases (1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,679,817 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 126,590 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 335 new asymptomatic cases (84 imported cases; 251 indigenous cases, 74 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 56 in Henan province, 37 in Gansu province, 36 in Shandong province, 20 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 11 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 5 in Sichuan province, 4 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Hainan province and 1 in Yunnan province).

On Aug 2, 663 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (54 imported cases; 609 indigenous cases, 411 in Gansu province, 106 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 22 in Henan province, 20 in Anhui province, 13 in Shanghai municipality, 10 in Guangdong province, 5 in Tianjin municipality, 5 in Jilin province, 5 in Fujian province, 5 in Jiangxi province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Sichuan province). 25 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 13 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 2, 6,219 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 604 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 2, 4,986,317 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 357,232 in Hong Kong (9,520 had died and 68,002 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 791 in Macao (6 had died and 760 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,628,294 in Taiwan (8,994 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
