Drought in the upper Yellow River has diminished the water flow of the main stream, resulting in the lowering of the Hukou Waterfall in Jixian county, Shanxi province.
The water strikes the rocks, creating piles of foam, a shroud of mist and a rainbow from the sun, all of which attract visitors.
Located on the border of Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces, Hukou Waterfall is the second-largest in China and the largest on the Yellow River.
