Known as the “Oriental Sculpture Museum”, the Maijishan Grottoes in Tianshui, Northwest China’s Gansu province were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014. The construction of the grottoes began in the Late Qin period(384 to 417). Now it boasts 221 caves, 10,632 clay sculptures and stone carvings, and murals covering an area of 1,300 square meters.
