Workers at a museum in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, recently confirmed the identities of three so-called comfort women who were forced into sexual slavery after being captured by the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II in Hunan province.

At the Nanjing Comfort Stations Liji Lane Site Museum — a branch of the the Memorial Hall for the Victims in the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders — workers confirmed three abused women, surnamed Fang, 101; Ou, 95; and Shen, 91.

Fang and Ou had no children, while Shen never married. Further details about them were withheld at the request of relatives.

There are fewer than 20 surviving comfort women officially registered on the Chinese mainland, according to the museum.
