May 30: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 34 new cases of confirmed infections (14 imported cases, 4 in Fujian province, 4 in Guangdong province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Sichuan province, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Guangdong province; 20 indigenous cases, 8 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Tianjin municipality and 6 in Shanghai municipality, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Beijing municipality), no deaths, and 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai municipality).

On May 29, 215 patients were released from hospital after being cured (12 imported cases; 203 indigenous cases, 119 in Shanghai municipality, 50 in Beijing municipality, 11 in Sichuan province, 7 in Tianjin municipality, 7 in Henan province, 5 in Guangdong province, 3 in Liaoning province and 1 in Jiangsu province). 12,973 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 7.

As of 24:00 on May 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,651 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,420 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 231 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 5 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on May 29, the National Health Commission had received reports of 224,049 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 216,075 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,748 confirmed cases (including 133 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 4,081,622 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 187,651 were still under medical observation.

On May 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 150 new asymptomatic cases (48 imported cases; 102 indigenous cases, 61 in Shanghai municipality, 19 in Hebei province, 5 in Liaoning province, 5 in Jilin province, 5 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 4 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Henan province and 1 in Shandong province).

On May 29, 2,550 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (42 imported cases; 2,508 indigenous cases, 2,340 in Shanghai municipality, 70 in Sichuan province, 29 in Liaoning province, 27 in Henan province, 10 in Zhejiang province, 6 in Tianjin municipality, 5 in Jiangsu province, 4 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Jilin province, 3 in Shandong province, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Guizhou province, 1 in Qinghai province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region). 5 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 2 imported cases). As of 24:00 on May 29, 13,776 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 453 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 29, 2,224,643 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 332,288 in Hong Kong (9,376 had died and 62,174 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 83 in Macao (82 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,892,272 in Taiwan (2,056 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
