China, Brazil to boost health cooperation, exchanges

Ma Xiaowei, minister of China's National Health Commission (NHC), had a meeting with Marcelo Queiroga, Brazil's health minister, on May 10 via video link to exchange views on further deepening bilateral and multilateral health cooperation.

In recent years, China and Brazil have maintained good health collaboration and achieved progress in solidarity in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, Ma said at the meeting, adding that China is willing to further deepen bilateral practical cooperation, enhance inter-agency exchanges, strengthen multilateral cooperation and promote sustained and in-depth development of China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership under the framework of the China-Brazil High-level Coordination and Cooperation Committee in order to jointly build a global community of health for all.

In briefing his counterpart on the latest situation of COVID-19 prevention and control in China, Ma noted that China has always adhered to the philosophy of people and lives first and will stick to its dynamic zero-COVID policy to resolutely consolidate achievements in battling the virus.

Queiroga appreciated China's assistance to Brazil in anti-COVID-19 supplies and vaccine research, development and production. He said Brazil hopes to further collaboration with China, maintain close exchanges at all levels, strengthen communication and coordination in multilateral fields and promote bilateral health cooperation to a higher level for the health and well-being of the people of the two countries.
