May 12: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 237 new cases of confirmed infections (15 imported cases, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Fujian province, 4 in Yunnan province and 2 in Guangdong province; 222 indigenous cases, 144 in Shanghai municipality, 35 in Beijing municipality, 21 in Henan province, 13 in Qinghai province, 3 in Jilin province, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Liaoning province and 1 in Guizhou province, including 111 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 106 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Liaoning province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Guizhou province), 5 deaths (all were indigenous cases in Shanghai municipality), and 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai municipality).

On May 11, 571 patients were released from hospital after being cured (9 imported cases; 562 indigenous cases, 432 in Shanghai municipality, 45 in Beijing municipality, 26 in Jilin province, 15 in Guangdong province, 7 in Zhejiang province, 6 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 6 in Jiangxi province, 5 in Hunan province, 5 in Sichuan province, 3 in Shanxi province, 3 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Qinghai province and 1 in Hebei province). 62,719 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 40.

As of 24:00 on May 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,331 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,160 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 171 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on May 11, the National Health Commission had received reports of 220,958 confirmed cases and 5,203 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 208,526 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 7,229 confirmed cases (including 444 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 3,801,166 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 363,739 were still under medical observation.

On May 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,680 new asymptomatic cases (50 imported cases; 1,630 indigenous cases, 1,305 in Shanghai municipality, 85 in Liaoning province, 77 in Henan province, 47 in Jiangsu province, 25 in Sichuan province, 25 in Qinghai province, 20 in Zhejiang province, 14 in Jiangxi province, 11 in Beijing municipality, 10 in Hebei province, 4 in Guizhou province, 2 in Jilin province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Shandong province).

On May 11, 5,963 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (81 imported cases; 5,882 indigenous cases, 5,509 in Shanghai municipality, 78 in Jiangxi province, 77 in Liaoning province, 47 in Jilin province, 40 in Hebei province, 31 in Shandong province, 15 in Anhui province, 14 in Jiangsu province, 13 in Shanxi province, 13 in Zhejiang province, 10 in Henan province, 10 in Hubei province, 6 in Yunnan province, 4 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Guangdong province, 3 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Sichuan province). 111 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on May 11, 75,532 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 434 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 11, 836,957 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 331,420 in Hong Kong (9,355 had died and 60,841 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 505,455 in Taiwan (951 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
